Better Giving Nonprofit Spotlight: Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue

We caught up with Kari Whitman, the founder and CEO of Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue, to discuss how digital or online giving has played a part in aiding the nonprofit with their fundraising and finances.

What’s your role, and how did you/the nonprofit get involved with digital or online giving? What’s been your experience to date?

I’m the founder of Ace of Hearts dog rescue. I started it 30 years ago and it has been successful. I attribute this to our foster program, as you can’t place the dog you don’t know and you can’t know a dog living in a cage.

So our success rate has been high due to the fact that we know our dogs before we place them, so they don’t get into a home that they are not well to adjusted to.

This Fund is a very important to us, as we cannot survive without donations.

What is the main activity of Ace of Hearts Dog Rescue?

It’s very simple to say, much harder to do!

Saving dogs the day they are set to die in the highest kill rate shelters in America, Los Angeles!

How has the Better Giving experience been so far? Can you share a success story or a notable impact though the funds raised via Better Giving?

The funds we have raised has saved over 30 dogs. That’s a very large impact.

We are able to get the vet care, the supplies and shelter secured through our website portal.

This has been extremely beneficial for the animals.

How do you think Better Giving will be able to benefit your nonprofit in the future?

Animal rescues are the lowest fund of all nonprofits, and we need you and the donations that come through you, desperately

Do you have any advice for others thinking of starting an online donation programme?

Do it!

Do you have any specific projects coming up? Or immediate plans for using the funding?

We always have projects going on, they are called dogs!

Unfortunately, there is an abundance of dogs that are constantly needing help, they are all highly adoptable. There are just not enough homes to go around.

Through education, spaying, neutering, and finding good homes.

This is how we can make change.

Thanks. Each dog a project well worth donating to support.

Can you also share a fun fact or inspiring story from your work?

This nonprofit was started after our founder’s dog, named Ace, that she rescued.

He was to be euthanized from Los Angeles Shelter.

When he eventually died, she saw the glass half full instead of half empty hence calling the foundation, Ace of Hearts.

Ace has saved over $10,000 to date, because of the impact that he had on our founders heart. He was a bully breed and at the time nobody wanted bully breeds.

We rescue all types of dogs, but focus on bully breeds. There are thousands of success stories on our website take www.aceofheartsdogs.com

That’s an inspiring story! How do people find out more about what you do? Do you have any social media links?

We like Instagram and use that a lot along with our website or our instagram is @aceofheartsdogrescue

AND, you can donate RIGHT NOW on our Better Giving donation page

We REALLY appreciate your donation. It goes to great use.

Thanks Kari, we love the work you do, and the memory of Ace will live on! We look forward to hearing more in the future and in the meantime, leave readers with this instagram video of Capri.
